  • We dreamt of utopia and we woke up screaming. ‘On Air’

We dreamt of utopia and we woke up screaming researches the little known archive of the Radiodiffusion television algérienne (RTA) that voiced the struggles, hopes and plans for possible other futures of the emerging ‘Third World’ of the 60s and 70s. It aims at creating an artistic platform for the production of alternative knowledge and narratives through speculative methodologies in order to reactivate a sound archive of the ‘Mecca of Revolution’ Algiers was at that time. The project is conceived and curated by Yasmina Reggad and accompanied by Rhizome.

    Neglected Cinema / Collective Cinema

Collective cinema / neglected cinema is a project of restoration, diffusion and publication, around De quelques événements sans significations (1974) by moroccan filmmaker Mostafa Derkaoui. The film is an engaged avant-gardist piece, questioning the role of cinema and artists in a time of political oppression. The mobilisation of a whole generation of artists, poets and musicians, taking part in its shooting in popular districts of Casablanca and aiming at creating an independent cinematographic work, is unique in the cultural history of Morocco. Nonetheless, the movie has remained invisible since its very realisation.
